Accessible Home Modifications & VA SAH Grant Construction in Waco, TX
At Grace Custom Contracting & Design, we help veterans build homes that work the way they need them to. We take on projects funded through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Grant Program, working with eligible veterans on custom home construction, home modifications, and accessibility improvements.
Whether you're building a new adaptive home or modifying the one you're in, we coordinate directly with homeowners, architects, occupational therapists, and VA representatives — so the finished work meets both the program's specifications and your daily life.
The goal is a home that supports independence and mobility for the long term, built by a team that treats you and your family with the respect you've earned.

About the SAH grant
Specially Adapted Housing is one of several VA housing adaptation grants. Others include SHA (Special Home Adaptation) and HISA (Home Improvements and Structural Alterations), each with different eligibility rules and benefit amounts.
Eligibility requirements and grant amounts are set by the VA and change over time. We're contractors, not benefits advisors — for questions about which grant you qualify for and what it covers, go to the source:
→ VA housing assistance grants → Or contact your local VA office
Once you know what you're working with, we can talk about what it builds.
Aging In Place
Not every accessible modification involves a grant or a disability. A great many are simply about staying in a home you love.
If you're planning ahead for a parent moving in, or for yourselves in fifteen years, the smartest time to build in accessibility is during a remodel you're already doing. Blocking behind shower walls, a slightly wider doorway, a curbless entry — these cost very little when the wall is already open and a great deal once it's closed.
We'll flag those opportunities during any remodel, whether or not you asked.
They were patient, respectful, and took the time to explain everything in a way that made [my grandmother] feel confident and cared for."
